Why Squarespace is My Web Design Platform of Choice

When you’re deciding on a platform for your website, there are a lot of things to consider. But the main thing to figure out is what your goals are. I create simple, professional websites on Squarespace because it’s my web design platform for the types of clients in which I specialize. Full stop.

Other platforms could be a better fit, depending on your goals. If you’re a purely e-commerce business, I recommend Shopify. If you need a membership login site or a feature that’s highly custom coded, I recommend WordPress.

But I’m here today to sing the praises of Squarespace as my personal web design platform of choice because it’s great for the middle ground. For businesses that need a professional website that’s easy to navigate and easy on the eyes, it’s a perfect fit. And if you use a little bit of e-commerce, the platform can easily accommodate. It’s so dang flexible

Here’s what I love about it:

IT’S USER-INTUITIVE

I like equipping my clients with the ability to edit the site themselves. Nothing is more frustrating for a start-up than a lack of access to your own web platform. There’s a bit of a learning curve with Squarespace, but with very little practice you can learn how to edit the copy, swap out an image, put up a new blog post and pretty much anything else you need to do.

IT’S EASY TO CUSTOMIZE

Many platforms depend, at least somewhat, on your ability to code. Which makes them pretty inaccessible to the average entrepreneur. Squarespace makes it simple to move things around, replace icons and change out the color scheme, fonts and other visuals.

TEMPLATES ARE INCLUDED

Unlike other platforms, you don’t have to pay anything extra for templates. This is a huge relief for any entrepreneur or small business owner who wants to update their look or try out different templates. It’s the worst to pay for a template and then discover that you don’t love it. Big high-five for this one!

CONTEMPORARY

Speaking of templates, they’re beautiful. And simple. And fresh. Squarespace has invested heavily in design and you can tell. Because they use a lot of negative space, they look clean and open, which makes them appropriate for a wide range of businesses.

COMPARABLE PRICING

Squarespace pricing is just about the same as other platforms, which I love. So often, great design and functionality means a product is expensive and, therefore, out of reach for the average start-up. Squarespace’s pricing is accessible (and I’ve saved SO much in comparison to my fees self-hosting through WordPress!).

GREAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT

When you message Squarespace for any support issue that may arise, you can rest assured that it’s a homegrown company with an intentional, homegrown support staff who go above and beyond to assist you with your various needs. They are real people you’re talking to… not a bot chat!

THEY’RE A PROGRESSIVE COMPANY

It makes my heart flutter that Squarespace is pro-LGBTQ, pro-BLM, and that they sponsor creators and influencers who are all about anti-oppression. I’ll support a company that produces podcasts and supports smaller influencers that align with my values every day. (And I do!) Ethics are the new sexy.

If you need a gorgeous new Squarespace website, I’d be happy to chat with you!
